Hello, I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor with a Higher Professional Diploma in counselling and have been in practice since 2012.
I am a registered member of the BACP. This means you can check on the register of the largest professional body in the UK for counsellors that I have met their standards of proficiency and ethical practice.
The person centred approach is one of many different approaches to counselling and it is the one that as both a counsellor and client I find fits my personality.
Before I trained in counselling, I worked for many years in the business world as a consultant. I worked for a number of different retail and IT companies around the UK, which gave me the opportunity to get to know people from all walks of life. While I had always been interested in counselling, it was something I put off for a long time until I realised that the most rewarding part of my work was the relationships I was building with people. This experience is part of why I am so committed to offering counselling online as I understand how integral to peoples lives technology is.
I believe that counselling is all about the relationship between the client and the counsellor. As the counsellor, my role is to share the space with you and be with you as you explore what has brought you to counselling.
I am an associate with menCASA which is a specialist organisation supporting men who have experienced abuse and false accusations.
I also work part time as a school counsellor in South East London working one to one or with groups and have been a facilitator on Non Violent Resistance parenting groups run by Greenwich CAMHS. I work with young people aged 11 and upward in private practise but cannot work online with them until they are over 16.
I work face to face near Catford and online using Skype or Zoom.
If you are wondering about the tree image, for me it represents how we are always growing. Sometimes we get a bit turned and twisted around, but the urge to keep on is within us all.
